McDonald's Takes Me In
Tuesday, October 19, 2010

It was a mighty nice burger and a mighty nice restaurant too.
I never seen no restaurant in the country before that was so nice
and has so much style. It didn't have no little wood sign in front nor
an ordinary lamp post, but these big gold arches that let everybody
know where it set. There was a big counter that was smooth on top and the surface
was kept clean and white by spraying blue water on it and swishing it around
with a little sponge; sometimes one of the girls in the fancy red cap opened
up the straw-spitter or the napkins-maker and looked it over. They had bid
machines that lighted up and went buzzing in the middle of the wall behind the counter
with a picture of this clown painted on one side by the scription ''Ronald''
and you could see the menu beside him. It was grand to see the clown smile, and
sometimes when one of these girls had been waiting on a young man standing in front
of that counter, she would hand him a placemat she must have made special with
that clown drawn on it. they wouldn't took no money for that clown.
